1. Friday Night Lights (2004)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Chalk up Friday Night Lights as an extremely pleasant surprise. I expected the usual rah-rah feel good sports flick; instead, I found a movie with a harsh focus on reality that made it consistently believable and realistic. Starring Billy Bob Thornton, Lucas Black. Universal, $29.98, 1/18/2005.

3. The Blind Side [Blu-Ray] (2009)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Why did The Blind Side earn about $250 million at the box office and snare Sandra Bullock an Oscar? I don’t know. While the movie provides enjoyable “feel good” entertainment, little about it stands out from its genre crowd, so I can’t figure out why it struck it so big. The Blu-ray provides very good picture but comes with average audio and supplements.

5. Four Christmases [Blu-Ray] (2008)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: There are far too many good Christmas movies for me to recommend this insulting nonsense. If you like it, though, go with the Blu-ray instead of the DVD. The Blu-ray offers significant presentation improvements, so it’s the way to go. Starring Vince Vaughn, Reese Witherspoon. New Line, $39.98, 11/24/2009.

6. Toy Story 4 [4K UHD] (2019)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: On its own, Toy Story 4 offers an entertaining adventure. However, I can’t help but feel it seems superfluous, as the franchise concluded effectively with Toy Story 3 and didn’t need another chapter. Starring Tom Hanks, Annie Potts. Disney, $39.99, 10/8/2019.

9. Tomorrowland [Blu-Ray] (2015)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: With a ton of talent behind and in front of the camera, Tomorrowland should’ve been a great sci-fi/action film. Instead, it winds up as a bland, slow tale without much originality or excitement on display. Starring George Clooney, Britt Robertson. Disney, $39.99, 10/13/2015.

10. The Shack [Blu-ray] (2017)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: In an attempt to entice the Christian audience, The Shack comes heavy on sentiment and light on depth or real meaning. The film touches on spiritual themes without insight, as it turns into a draggy, superficial bore. Starring Sam Worthington, Octavia Spencer. Summit, $39.99, 5/30/2017.
